50 ESUT Students Escape Death From Bus Fire Reports has it that not less than 60 studentsof the Enugu State University of Science andTechnology (ESUT), narrowly escaped death on, following a mysterious fire that engulfed a Shuttle bus conveying them fromthe institution to the city.The bus caught fire, few metres away fromthe Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS), Enugu and the Nigerian TelevisionAuthority, (NTA), Enugu.Although there were no deaths, many of thestudents and other passengers sustainedserious injuries in the near stampede thatresulted while escaping to safety throughthe widows and other exit available spacesin the bus.Valuables including Laptops and handsetsbelonging to the students were alsocompletely destroyed by the fire.According to reports, the timely alert bydetached policemen from IndependenceLayout, Enugu, saved the lives of thestudents.One of the survivors, Vivian, narrated how thesecurity operatives suddenly stopped thedriver, raising the alarm that fire was oozingout from the vehicle.“We were saved by God through thepolicemen who were coming behind us. Theystopped our vehicle and shouted to us tocome down quickly. We jumped out.
