Contrary to reports going round social media
that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)
Scheme has been summarily disbanded and
scrapped by President Muhammadu Buhari,
the federal government has moved to deny
such claims.

In a reaction to the rumours, the Senior
Special Assistant to the President on Media
and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, stated that
the reports were unfounded and legally
illogical.

He said that the NYSC scheme is a creation
of the law and only another law can repeal it.
Shehu urged Nigerians to disregard the reports
as they all emanate from the works of
mischief makers.

It would be recalled that the National Youth
Service Scheme was established in 1975 by
then Head of State General Yakubu Gowon
(retd).
