Happy new year. We have crossed into another year of academic pursuit and I hope we are all ready to get the fire burning. When we were contesting, we promised to fight and speak for you and that we are trying to do at all times. The union had many challenges before we assumed office.
(1) problem of security
(2) lack of electricity
(3) inadequate hostels
(4) high cost of school fees
(5) lack of well equipped  medical center
(6) lack of well organized social centers
(7) annoying and uncommon bank charges
(8) lack of enough toilets.
(9) very few A. T. M. Machines.
(10) no Commercial vehicles from old site to new site and many more.
My government can not say we have solved all this problems, but we have contributed in our own little way.
Starting from one above, we have tried to increase the number of security agencies that patrol the school and it neighboring communities which students inhabit. We attracted the students special vigilantly squad, which is located at Otoko_awkuzu.  His Excellency Dr Willie maduabuchukwu Obiano,  the executive governor of Anambra state,  gave the squad two patrol vans and if we will be sincere, you will agree to the fact that the rate of robbery and other social vices have dropped drastically.
The issue of electricity is another problem. Most students including me study with candles and lamps. Our government have complained to as many offices as we can enter and we hope the promises they made us are true. Those who are observant will notice the high tension the government is pulling from Awka. The commissioner for Education, prof Kate told the union executives that the governor have already signed the project and it's now in the table of those in public utilities. The SA. to the governor on works Mr Julius  assured us in a meeting with him that the project will be accomplished before March. He said the project has been approved.
Due to the insecurity students who stay off-campus are faced with, the University have written to the government for more hostels inside the school and the government have agreed to embark on that. Soon some private companies will come in to build good hostels like CBN HOSTEL.
During my campaign, pricely on the day of my manifesto, I promised to search for scholarship schemes that will reduce the burden of the high school fees we pay. We      have created the awareness for many. Recently we wrote a request that bursary be paid to students and pray that the governor considers it. We ask you join in the prayers.
Before we assumed office students travel as far as Awka to treat malaria because one could hardly fine panadol in the medical center. We had a single doctor and he was hardly available. We pay for treatments in the medical center and yet will not fill better. Today, we have two residential doctors, mostly available. The medical center is now fairly equipped and also free for all students even those who have not paid their school fees. We have also attracted a health insurance scheme that covers all students. Any sick student's bill will be taken up by the scheme, no matter the location of the government hospital in Anambra.
Banks in school especially fidelity have decided to frustrate students with charges on every single transaction. We complained to the manager of fidelity bank as regards that. We could not decipher why the bank collect charges for payment that other branches don't collect, and she said that we don't make major deposit like people do in other branches outside school. She went further to say that the charges that rank from two hundred to fifty Naira will not stop and if we feel uncomfortable, we should go and bank elsewhere not minding the fact they have refused to do any social service for our students Union. Probably, she feels we have no choice. Well, I urge all the students of coou to prove to her we have a choice.
The vice Chancellor have ordered that some abandoned toilet be resuscitated but only but a few have and some are still having water problem. We are still begging that the abandoned toilet in front of social sciences faculty, close to the primary school be re-constructed.
The University is trying to come to terms with Ecobank, they have started creating a place at new site . When they come in, ATM problem will reduce.
I want to thank prof. Fidelis Okafor our vice Chancellor and daddy. The only vice Chancellor that comes out to address students when they choose to riot. When I got admission into Anambra state university, prof. Fidelis was barely a year in office. As a pre-degree student, we trekked from ETF auditorium to old site on swampy ground. Today we have a bridge linking old site and new site. All the roads are tarred and we have a modern administrative block. Faculty of pharmaceutical sciences is springing up, we are expanding faculty of agriculture, faculty of law is having an expansion, the abandoned faculty of management is about to spring up. Our university is honored with second best In giving of admission by jamb. No wonder why prof. Fidelis ozorchukwu Okafor was awarded the common wealth vice Chancellor of the year 2015. Our university will always be indebted to him.
Before we assumed office, there was no means of transportation within the school premises. Those in the hostel found it difficult to transport goods from the gate to the hostel. Today we have attracted a transportation system. Students will no longer have to trek from new site to old site like I did in my pre-degree days. Anyway the vehicle are not enough but we will continue to speak until it is.
We have only few months left in office, probably till April. But we promise to use the rest of our tenure to do what you elected us to do. We need your prayers and for those of you that whose parents are in government, tell them to come to our aid. We all are part of the union. We are looking forward to bringing an unlimited Wi-Fi network that will cover the school and it's neighborhood. If you like the idea, pray it works.
God bless you all, as you abide by the law.

Signed for the students union government
Comr. IJEGALU U. S FELIX
